Despite getting an easy target, the Tigresses suffered a lot with the bat against Pakistan's bowlers. Negara Sultana Jyoti's team had to fight till the last over of the innings to win.

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the first T20 of the three-match series at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday (October 25). Chasing 83 runs and losing 5 wickets in 19.3 overs, the representatives of red and green confirmed the victory.

Chasing an easy target, Bangladesh lost opener Shamima Sultana by 12 runs. He was run out with 5 runs off 9 balls. After that, Murshida Khatun and Sobana Mostari took the lead of the team in the second wicket. However, the team is under pressure due to their slow batting. Sobana suffered 16 runs off 2 fours off 25 balls in the tenth over of the innings.

Then skipper Jyoti increased the pace of runs by coming down to the crease. Murshida was out after playing a personal innings of 23 runs for the team's 57 runs. He had only 2 fours in his innings against 40 balls. However, holding on to one end, Jyoti left the field winning the team with 26 runs from 28 balls with 3 fours. In the end Ritu Moni was his winning partner from 3 balls 4 runs unbeaten. Among the Pakistani bowlers, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu and Umme Honey took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for 82 runs in 19.4 overs by Nahida Akhtar's spin poison. Nahida picked up 5 wickets alone at the cost of 8 runs by bowling 3.4 overs. Apart from this, Sultana Khatun, Rabeya Khan and Swarna Akhter took 1 wicket each.

Pakistan lost the wickets of two openers Sidra Amin and Muniba Ali after losing the toss and putting 25 runs on the scoreboard. Nahida showed both of them the way to the dressing room. After that, Bismah could not stay at the crease. He was run out after scoring 20 runs off 29 balls. Sultana-Nahidad's whirlwind cannon also did not benefit much. Pakistan took the score to 82 runs with 15 from 16 balls by Natalia Parvez and 8 runs from 9 balls by Diana Baig.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with a 5-wicket victory. The second and third T20 will be held in Chittagong on October 27 and 29.
